SUPER DUPER UNPOPULAR OPINION: A review of Struck by Lightning by someone who hasn’t seen it.

You should give it a chance. That’s really not what the movie is all about. He actually does come across as a somewhat sympathetic character who is flawed, sure, but has also been hurt by those who should have protected him. And he doesn’t really express a superiority to those around him - Just to his environment and to those who allow themselves to become/remain stuck in it. Yes, his actions are morally questionable, but you can almost accept that he is that desperate. (Though I am a Slytherin through and through so that just might be me). There are also several other interesting characters beyond Carson.

Got my ticket to go see Struck By Lightning in Lambertville on Sunday - Yay!

Was debating between Asbury Park and Lambertville - I like Asbury Park so much better (there’s an ocean - no contest!), but Lambertville is 15 minutes closer…I figured I should be somewhat responsible considering I have to work the next morning and I’ll probably be going with little or no sleep next Tuesday night after Megan Cox’s album release in Brooklyn.

Sorry to sound like an entitled bitch, but you always have a choice about whether or not you illegally download something. A show/movie/music not coming out where you live yet does not make downloading it less wrong. Before file-sharing on the internet, people just waited until it was available. To download something illegally is wrong.

That being said, I do wrong things all the time. I just acknowledge that they ARE WRONG. I don’t represent myself as a helpless slave to circumstance.

So I guess what I mean to say is that if you illegally download a copy of Struck By Lightning, regardless of where you are, you are doing something wrong. Go ahead and do it if you want to, but at least own that. And I really hope you do eventually pay for a copy when you are able.

An added incentive to donate to our campaign!

I was lucky enough to be able to attend Chris Colfer’s book signing at Bookends in Ridgewood, NJ. I picked up an extra book to share with a contributor to our fundraising campaign.

I want to be fair and not just say “Donate x obscene amount of money and the book is yours!”, so for every $5 you donate to our campaign between now and the very end of the day of Friday, November 30th (EST) you will get a chance to win! This does not negate the incentives we are already offering - This is just a bonus!

Some rules:

-You must be following 25 Things

-You must donate to the campaign with your name/nickname

-You must reblog this post

-You must send us an ask with your donation amount

-I will send the book anywhere in the world!

That’s it! On December 1st, the dedicated puppies at Puppy Pile Productions will verify everyone’s entries. As soon as we’re done, we will pick a winner at random. Your chances of winning are entirely dependent upon how many people enter. Of course, having more than one entry does not hurt your chances (*hint, hint*).

Best of luck and thank you for your support!!!

Not a lot of entries so far - Help us out, guys!

Not much time left in the campaign! We’ve reached our bare-bones budget, but still need help!

Chris Colfer || Ridgewood, NJ || November, 20th, 2012

I didn’t post these last night because I wanted Cassie to see them first - I didn’t think I would have time to take any photos for her, but they talked so long I had time to get the okay to stand there from the security guard, be happy for her, realize I did have time, pull my camera out, turn in on, and get 4 decent photos.

I am so happy for you!!!!!!

The guy in the background is totally in love with Chris.
Just saying.

Three Dollar Bill Cinema Announces Galas for SLGFF Including Chris Colfer’s New Film

ccolferrr:

Lots of local movie news for today with the biggest for lgbtq film fans being the announcement of the gala screenings for the 17th Annual Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival which runs October 11 through October 21. Three Dollar Bill Cinema, the producers of the annual festival, have revealed the theme of this year’s festival: “Come Out and Play” and the identities of the Opening and Closing Gala films, and the two Centerpiece Gala Films. The rest of the schedule will be announced the week of September 17th.

The big “get” of the festival is undoubtedly the Seattle premiere of the new film “Struck By Lightning” written by and starring “Glee” star Chris Colfer. (You might remember we interviewed the director of the film, Brian Dannelly; check it out HERE.)

Opening Night Film: STRUCK BY LIGHTNING (Thursday, October 11, 7:30 p.m., Cinerama)

Chris Colfer, Golden Globe winner for Glee, is the writer and star of this wickedly smart dark comedy, set in a town strikingly similar to where Colfer grew up. Through a series of flashbacks, we get to know Carson Phillips (Colfer), a high school senior whose attitude toward high school is arrogant and cynical. He’d love nothing more than to escape the mediocrity of the meathead jocks, the drama club gays, a mean-girl cheerleader (Sarah Hyland, Modern Family), a spooky goth chick (Ashley Rickards, Awkward), and a clueless college advisor (Angela Kinsey, The Office) who harass him on a daily basis. Home life is no solace for Carson either, what with a pill-popping mom (Allison Janney), estranged father (Dermot Mulroney), and his father’s pregnant fiancée (Christina Hendricks, Mad Men). Quirky and hilarious Rebel Wilson (BRIDESMAIDS) steals the show as Carson’s only ally, who helps him hatch an outrageous plan to humiliate his foes and boost his chances for college acceptance.
STRUCK BY LIGHTNING will resonate with anyone who has suffered through the torments of high school cliques and the burning desire to turn the tables on one’s enemies. The memorable performances in this lively reinvention of the high school comic drama are infused with such spirit and joy that you may even get nostalgic.
STRUCK BY LIGHTNING premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival and was the closing night film at this year’s OutFest in Los Angeles.
